About

Hello,

My name is Cameron Rolka. I grew up in Michigan. moved to Portland Oregon in 2009 and went to culinary school at the Art Institute of Portland. Upon graduating earlier this year in 2011 I won the 2nd edition of the BasqueStage Scholarship by Sammic . They moved me just outside of San Sebastian, Spain in Lasarte-Oria to work at Martín Berasategui’s 3-Michelin star restaurant for about 6 months. As well as to experience Spanish/Basque culture and food on the weekends.

Currently I’m just finishing work at MB’s and I will commence traveling in Europe for the next couple of weeks. Afterwards I’m either going to stay in Europe for another couple months interning somewhere currently undetermined, or return to Portland to work in an also undetermined restaurant.

At this point I have an amazing amount of opportunities, but nothing specifically set. The next couple weeks will determine which direction my life will head at least for the foreseeable time. Which I think is pretty exciting.

Anywho, what are you doing reading my ‘about’ page? Shouldn’t your time be better spent reading my posts, commenting, checking out my links, or eating some food?

    • Thanks! What did you do out here in Spain? If you have any recommendations of what I should see or do I’m open. I’ll be travelling for a couple weeks in December and January.
